All about the Star Thrower Farm CSA

• What is a CSA?  CSA stands for community supported agriculture. At Star Thrower Farm this means that your pay at the beginning of the season and are provided the best vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers grown in the farm market garden.
• What is the downside of a CSA? Members of a CSA share in the risks and rewards of our harvest.  Star Thrower Farm is able to mitigate this risk with starting our plants in our greenhouse so they are seedlings when planted giving them the best chance for success.  We also plant a very large variety of crops and succession plant for season extension so we have bountiful harvests every week.
• What makes Star Thrower Farm’s CSA program special? Most CSAs are either vegetables or flowers.  At Star Thrower Farm we offer weekly vegetables and also, at times, flowers, herbs, and fruit. We are a diversified farm and find that our customers enjoy all the bounty of our market garden.
• Will I be loaded up with lettuce and zucchini?  We grow over 60 different fruits, vegetables, and herbs.  We also grow many cut flowers.  Variety is excellent. List of what we are growing for 2021:
• What if I don’t know what to do with kohlrabi?  Your share will include seasonal favorite vegetables.  We have also selected heirloom, non-GMO high falutin and tasty veggies  and will provide ways to prepare.
• How do I know how to store my goodies? Like many people, we avoid single use plastics and will supply food grade storage bags that you will return when you pick up the next week’s share with fresh storage bags. Your bags will be washed and returned to you on the following order.  Our goal is to deliver the freshest garden delights that you will eat at their peak of freshness, flavor and nutritional value while protecting our environment.
