About Us

The way nature intended

Star Thrower Farm is a 145 acre sustainable and diversified farm an hour west of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Icelandic sheep and their guard llamas are rotationally grazed on pasture during the growing season and fed farm raised hay during the winter months.  The wool of our flock is used to produce sustainable wool and woolen products by the farm shepherd.

Our flock of Khaki Campbell ducks and Rhode Island Red hens free range during the day and share a shelter at night to protect them from predation. Predators include coyotes, hawks, owls, raccoons and eagles which are part of the ecological balance at Star Thrower.

The bees in our “bee friendly” apiary produce honey and pollinate our vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruits in the farm’s market garden.

A small number of CSA, community supported agriculture, shares are available each year.
